[Zen Cart] Seeking why MSU stopped working

Hello

I had MSU 3.0.0.4 installed on my server (Zencart 1.3.9h PHP5.3.3) since may 2011 with no trouble, last september I had problems with an addon, i disabled MSU to check stuff, and then when i wanted to enable it again it stopped writting to the fancy-data folder and to rewrite urls.

I was unable to regenerate the .htaccess, i tried several times as explained in the docs and it never regenerate.

After seeking for hours i discovered there was an upgrade (nobody told me about):

3.0.05 - * Fixed typo in .htaccess file generation code

I upgraded and still was unable to regenerate the .htaccess...

I had to do like a new install and reactivate the url to finally make it works....

Questions:
-why not let know about free upgrade?
-what could cause MSU to stop working when disabled/enabled
-should i have to reactivate my url every time i have the same problem?
-how many times can i reactivate this url?

As soon as Magic SEO URLs is installed, it works as long as no MSU files are deleted/corrupted and installation line is in correct place.
If your Magic SEO URLs copy no longer works, then re-upload all files and repeat installation process. There are no hidden tricks how to make it work.

-should i have to reactivate my url every time i have the same problem?

If you mean whether you need to repeat Magic SEO URLs activation process then it is necessary only if key file has been lost. If you don't know key file is present, open-up activation page and you will see the activation status.

-how many times can i reactivate this url?

There is no limit.
