[phpBB] failed to open stream: File too large in

I get the following when accessing some posts from the "View new since last visit" functionality. Any suggestions?

Some files in cache seems to be corrupted. Please delete all files in cache/fancy-data/ directory.

Filezilla wouldn't delete the files, saying they were 'too large'(?).
So I renamed the folder and created a new folder.
That seems to have fixed it... thank you.
