[osCommerce] Installation/Configuration Complexity Estimate?

Postby difrint1 » Thu Sep 03, 2009 6:44 am

Hi, I am NOT a programmer, but want to use Magic SEO to generate static HTML pages for my OSCommerce website. Is this a daunting task for a non-programmer? Is a tutorial available to guide me thru the installation, configuration and setup? Thanks!!!

In order to install MSU, you will only need to add one line of code and generate the .htaccess file. It is a very quick and easy task. Installation instructions are included in installation package. If you purchase Standard installation package, free installation service is included as well.

Before I purchase I need some clarifications. I purchased an OSCommerce website that appears to have been written in PHP. So my first question is: which configuration of Magic SEO should I purchase?...OSC or PHP? The objective of my project is to add unique JavaScript (JS) variables to EACH PAGE of my website for collecting (non-Google) web analytics data. Please note, the JS I need to insert on each page is NOT a singular set of code (like Google Analytics) that can be inserted into the PHP Include/Footer file. Instead, each dynamically generated page of my website needs its own unique JS coding. Historically, for old fashioned HTML web pages, I simply inserted my unique JS tags into the BODY tag. But for my dynamically generated PHP pages, I'm sure it's a totally different procedure, please help. Second question: To make sure I'm buying the right solution - can Magic SEO URL somehow provide me access to my dynamically generated web pages - as static HTML - for inserting my customized JS code?
Thanks! (and very sorry for the long-winded questions!)

There is no MSU version for "PHP". MSU is written in PHP and is available for wide variety of products such as osCommerce, ZenCart, CRE Loaded, CubeCart, phpBB and phpBB3. If you are using osCommerce, you need MSU for osCommerce.

I think you don't understand correctly how MSU works. If you install MSU, your PHP codes remain. The only things which will change are your web site URLs so the way how JS code is inserted will be same as with pure osCommerce.

I appreciate the clarification. Based upon my objective - to insert unique JS code on all my various web pages, I guess MSU is not what I'm looking for. Thanks.
