[CubeCart] Internal Links

Postby jlander » Mon Apr 05, 2010 5:47 pm

How does Magic SEO handle internal links that are generated by the shopping cart software?

I'm changing from an outdated ASP shopping cart with a very bad URL structure to CubeCart 4 (php). I'd like to emulate my old URL structure while Google indexes the new files. Can Magic SEO be used for this purpose until Google re-indexes my site? Then later I'll 301 redirect the old URLs and use the new SEO friendly ones.

I have my new site set up for testing on a different domain name than my live store. Once it is ready, I'll switch domains. How do I purchase?

Lastly, can anyone set the whole thing up for me?

All links generated by CubeCart are transformed on-the-fly in HTML source code as described at http://www.magic-seo-url.com/cubecart/features.html

If you would handle old links with special Rewrite Rules which would execute CubeCart at the background, Magic SEO URL will do such job. On the other hand, the most easiest way how redirect old URLs from your ASP powered shopping cart, is to directly add special redirects to new .htaccess file.

You can make an order by the standard way (type your live and development URLs to order).

Installation service is included free of charge. We can do other tasks as well for small fee.

Does that mean that all internal links generated by the shopping cart will be rewritten automatically? Are they redirects or are the page URLs changed? Please forgive me...this is a little over my head.

Actually what I'd like to do is use the old URL structure for my new site...the old site document URLs, the old category URLs, and the old product page URLs. Is this something that your script can do automatically, or will it all have to be done in the .htaccess one-at-a-time?

I'd like to talk more about my project, but don't want it on a public forum.

Yes. It will be rewritten automatically.

Whether it can be done automatically depends on how your old links look and if your new shopping cart will use same product/category IDs. Otherwise, it can be done by manually work only.

I suspect that in my case, it will have to be done manually. How are manual rewrites and redirects done? Is there some kind of interface that helps you create them, or do you have to open up your .htaccess and do it totally by hand?
