I am using Zen Cart 1.38, Magic SEO URLS and MSU Sitemaps. I am receiving 850 Duplicate title tag errors in Webmaster tools. Here is just one example:

I am also receiving the same number of duplicate meta tags.

I never had duplicate title tag errors before using Magic SEO and MSU sitemaps. I have been using both since January 2010.

I need some help resolving this issue.

Magic SEO URL does not change titles or meta tags.

What happen is that all your pages are now properly indexed so Google can see errors which were hidden before.

No. My pages are not fully indexed at all. In fact my pages are being dropped from the index at an alarming rate. MSU sitemaps and Magic SEO are supposed to prevent duplicate content. That is not the type of answer anyone wants to here. I need a real answer. How do I prevent this duplicate content?

Yes. That is correct. Magic SEO URL removes all the URIs with duplicate content. That is the reason why the number of indexed pages decreased.

MSU sitemaps and Magic SEO are supposed to prevent duplicate content. That is not the type of answer anyone wants to here. I need a real answer. How do I prevent this duplicate content?

See the error message in GWT You need to make your titles unique. Magic SEO URL assigns only one unique URI to each page, but does not generate any (unique) content or change titles or meta tags. Hope it is clear now.

I had no pages at all indexed. I then installed MSU Sitemaps and Magic SEO. After a month or so I had 21000 pages indexed. I then deleted the cache files as I was told was safe to do. The number of indexed pages immediately dropped to about 200. After about 2 months the number of indexed pages has recovered to only 10,000. The duplicate content shown in WMT seems to be a problem with how MSU sitemaps renames my category pages. Here is another example:

First of all, I don't understand why Google sees these as duplicates.

Please shed some light on what is going on.

Don, number of indexed pages depend on many factors. Deleting cache files has no affect (we are doing this action every second day on sites running ZC which are managed by us).

Regarding duplicate content problem, see my previous post. Magic SEO URL does not magically generate a site with unique content. It is a tool for people who need appropriate technical background for other steps which are necessary to do in order to succeed in SEO.
